The artist has been painting and drawing since childhood. Favourite subjects included: baseball, football, and soccer. However, hockey was always the artist’s favourite subject matter as a child. After almost 15 years away from painting and almost a decade without drawing, Lubowitz returned to these activities seriously in 2011.

The artist enjoys painting and drawing all sports, but hockey retains a special place in their work. While occasionally depicting action scenes, Lubowitz enjoys athlete portraits most, especially of goalies. The artist aims to convey some of the player’s emotion and personality with each piece. Of particular interest to A are current and former players who have been part of the Ottawa Senators organization – the artist’s favourite team – but Lubowitz remains interested in subjects from around the NHL as well as international and women’s hockey.
